For Florida weather

A roof is a system. Every layer matters.

Florida weather tests more than the part of a roof you can see from the street. This is the order the layers go on, from the deck up.

Explore roofing services
  1. New plywood roof decking with the first course of underlayment being rolled over it

    Decking

Plywood sheathing fastened to the rafters. Soft or rotted sheets are replaced before anything goes on top.

  2. Roofer fastening underlayment over the roof deck with rows of cap nails

    Underlayment

A membrane fastened with cap nails over the whole deck, or a self-adhered one such as Polyglass under tile. It keeps water out if the covering above it is breached.

  3. Metal flashing fastened and sealed where a roof meets a stucco wall

    Flashing & drainage

Metal and membrane at the edges, valleys, walls and pipe boots, plus the gutters that carry water off. Most leaks start at one of these.

  4. Clay barrel tile courses meeting at a roof valley

    Covering

Clay or concrete tile, standing seam metal, shingles or a flat-roof membrane: the part you see, chosen for the house.

Miami-Dade County is in the Florida Building Code’s High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, where roofing products need approval for that zone. Permits and the paperwork an insurer may ask for are part of the conversation before a roof goes on.

Clay tile, standing seam metal, shingle and flat membrane each fail in their own way and are repaired in their own way. We work on all four.

Good to know

Your questions, answered plainly

How much does a new roof cost in North Miami?

It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the material, how much of the deck needs replacing and what the permit requires. We do not quote a price before someone has looked at the roof. Call (786) 889-4090 to set up an inspection.

Can you help with an insurance claim for storm damage?

Ask us what the roof shows and what your policy may ask for. A roofing contractor in Florida is not a public adjuster and cannot negotiate a claim on your behalf; your insurer, or a licensed public adjuster you hire, handles that.

What should I do if water is coming in right now?

Move what you can away from the water, catch the drip and stay off the roof. Then call (786) 889-4090: the line is open 24 hours.

How long does a roof replacement take?

It depends on the size of the roof, the material, the deck repairs it turns out to need, the permit and inspection schedule and the weather. We will tell you what to expect for your roof before work starts.

How do I check a roofing contractor’s license?

Ask for the Florida roofing license number and look it up on the DBPR license search at myfloridalicense.com before you sign anything. Ask for proof of insurance too.
